Story Time
October 25, 2007A witch came to visit George and his nursery school today to read a book for story time. She was very nervous. Her green makeup was actually melting into her black moles on her nose and cheek. The polyester hair was getting into the black lipstick and made it even more difficult to read. Her very own son didn’t recognize her till the end, when he was explaining his Halloween costume. And in one run on sentence he finished up with…..”and you are my mom”.

He said he could tell by the rings on her fingers. And her face. He said he always knew his moms’ face. Blushing…..now why was I so nervous!?!
I cleaned up my makeup in the bathroom at his school and this little girl came in and said “A witch just came in and read us a story”. I was a bit taken back that she didn’t realize I was the witch as well as her friendliness. So I responded, “Oh, was she a nice witch?” and she replied, “yeah, she was nice and I liked the story”, so I then said, “what was the story about?” and she said “A mom witch.” So she was listening!!
Book I read to the kiddos was Witch Mama, by Judith Caseley
Long, long overdue thank you’s
October 23, 2007Way back before school got out and summer began I got a sweet and thoughtful gift in the mail. A handmade potholder from the wonderfully talented Artsy Craftsy Babe, Beki. It has been used heavily since, and been washed a number of times. I love it when people ask “So where did you get this? or Did you make this?” and all the while I have this little secret that I got it from a blogging friend, which of course I don’t reveal to everyone that I blog. I find it just easier to say “oh, a friend made it” instead of explaining what a blog is, and why I do it, and so on.
Then there is there is my precious pear, made as a pincushion, can you believe. Anyway, this arrived at my doorstep back in January, (so this is loooooong overdue) from the Craft Apple herself Linda.
This pear is treated like fine china, and will never feel a pin on it’s wooly skin!
Uuuh uhm, excuse me…a sighting?
October 22, 2007Our summers spent in New Hampshire usually provide us with a few glimpses of the wild type….foxes, bears and the occassional moose.

The sightings have become less and less frequent as the years have passed. But the chipmunk sightings have skyrocketed. Seriously. I will try to be more like a chipmunk, less of a bear. And try to never show my back side!
Our Trip to Fenway Paaahk
October 20, 2007Back on May 1, we went as a family to see the Red Sox play the Oakland Athletics. We had taken the train (MBTA) in and the kids were so excited. We got off two stops early so the kids could enjoy the ambiance of the city on a warm vibrant evening. And we went early enough so the kids could watch batting practice.

We did have to leave a bit early that night. Both Maddy and George had fallen asleep on our laps. And it was getting pretty late….so this picture was taken on a green line train, and my little guys expression on the right just melts me. Dazed and confused, but all worth it.
GO GO RED SOX GO!
