Doodling April Vacation…..

April 29, 2008

……okay, so I was doodling one night up in New Hampshire. Our vacation wasn’t all fun and games. A bit of yard work, a few loads of recycleables to the town swap shop and the usual laundry, food shopping and soccer games were also on the to-do list.

And with the recent purchase of our new car, mini bus, which is equipped with a dvd player, I have been having strange dreams with recycled phrases from kids movies, and being zapped by a transmukian device…..hmmph.

April Vacation

April 26, 2008

While the husbands away we decide to climb a mountain. Go figure.Fantastic weather and unbelievable views which can’t even express themselves in these pictures. It wasn’t easy hiking up in the slippery melting snow and though Camel backs relieve myself of carrying the kids waterbottles, it does tend to go through the kids pretty fast. So pee stops happened ALOT! Marking his trail.

The skiiers were out in droves. And what an experience watching them hike up and ski down the huge bowl in front of us.

Family Ski Weekend

April 12, 2008

Well a week ago I was enjoying a beer after a full day of skiing at Sugarloaf Mt, in Maine. There has been a family get-to-together for a few years now and this was my little family’s first time…..and it was great!

The skiing was slushy, foggy, warm, tiring, and fun. I couldn’t wear my goggles due to the fog and couldn’t differentiate piles of snow, so I think I may have burned my eyeballs, or it could be wind burn too. I hadn’t fallen all year either, and twice fell and lost a ski both times.

We stayed at the The Herbert Hotel. What a wonderful treat that was. Beautiful, victorian, old, clean, place to stay. And our dinners out weren’t so shabby either! Thanks Dad, for a wonderful weekend!!

We were generously given a beautiful book and piece of family history from my Uncle John. My grandfather was one of the founders of Sugarloaf Mt. He was on the board of directors, and it is wonderful to see his face in this book.

I look forward to next year! I wanted to post this sooner, but we are just getting over a most disgusting stomach bug that has left us purging from both ends all week……need I say more.

Pear Pastel, with Limes and Lemons

April 1, 2008

Simple still life, comparing and contrasting the greens of limes and pears, and the reflections they give off each other. This is where I stand now, meaning it is not finished.
